6 1/2 hours in the cold well worth it By Sasha Trejo Standing out in the cold for about 6 ˝ hours, legs quivering and people huddling upon one another to create body heat. It is an experience that one is not to forget, to see people who are on TV marching in the streets of Manhattan. On these floats, celebrities wear a smile that can shine up the entire world, listening to their fans cheering for them. In this case people were cheering for the “YANKEES”. There isn’t an exact amount that determines how many people were there but it had to be about a million people all throughout Manhattan cheering their lungs out to see the players of New York Yankees. November 4, 2009 was the day that the Yankees took the 27th win in the World Series. Each day was a battle against the Philadelphia Phillies. There were some lost and some wins for both of them teams. They brought their 6th game back to the Bronx, watching it was intense and nerve breaking, but the Yanks taking the lead broke away the sweat and Yankees fan were full of joy. It was an early Friday morning and many fans were getting ready to head out to the Yankees parade. Nov. 6, 2009 was the day to honor the players. “I left my house at 6:00 AM to get there on time,” stated Emily Mateo from the High School of Telecommunications Arts and Technology (HSTAT). To think that you were going to miss a day from school you’ll probably get more sleep than usual, but in this case that’s wrong. Millions of fans came from all over the place to attend the parade, which meant in order to get good spots you had to be there BRIGHT and EARLY.
