Swine Flu vaccine

By Jennifer Flores

Many people are aware of the New Swine Flu Vaccine.  Some  of  the  people  have  taken this shot, others do not want to take it for their personal reasons. The H1N1 is a shot recommended by doctors to prevent people from getting the actual Swine Flu. But people who already got the actual flu many not be able to get this vaccine because their body is already immune to the flu. Yet it is important to take this matter very seriously because nobody in the world it to sure about things that go on.

In an article in the New York Times, the article Swine Flu Shots Revive a Debate About Vaccines says “ The increased interest is frustrating to health officials, who are struggling to persuade an already wary public to line up for shots and prevent the spread of the pandemic.

According to a CBS News poll conducted last week, only 46 percent said they were likely to get the vaccine. The nationwide poll, which has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points, found that while 6 in 10 parents were likely to have their children vaccinated, less than half said they were “very likely to.” Many people are in between to either get this vaccination or not. A survey of 30 different people, giving and asking their personal opinion towards this new vaccination. Some questions being asked were : What is their own personal opinion towards this vaccine, What advice do they have for the parents with children or people in general about this vaccine to take the vaccine or not.

Several students, parents and people were surveyed. “ I prefer my family to not get the shot because scientists or doctors should still try to work on it before giving it out to young children, elderly people, even pregnant mothers. Mostly lack of research made….” said Maricarmen Torres a Student From Fort Hamilton High School. The advice she gives to people mostly parents is for them to find out more information about the vaccine and what effects can it have, what can be the side effects when getting the vaccine and if it is mandatory procedure one has to take.

A former parents said “ its not very accurate, not safe at all, but I am willing to take the shot to prove if it works and if it truly is safe.” In the cases, parents as much as students should be aware of this and think well if they want this shot and if they want their family to get it also. But should first ask their doctor if its necessary or if it will have any secondary effects or any questions about this vaccine must be asked to their doctor.
