HSTAT Professional Day!
By Jennie Mei

           The Day is finally here!

November 20, 2009 is a date that all seniors dream of: Professional Day. It is a school tradition day for High School of Telecommunications of Art and Technology (HSTAT) seniors. On November 20, students will come into school dressing professional to celebrate the hard work that they put into working on the college application.

The night before the application is due, many seniors have stay up late trying to get everything settled, checking every envelope, posting on colorful stamps and checking off the list of what they need to put in the envelopes.

At 8:30AM, outside of HSTAT is sunny and normal. Inside HSTAT is hot and loud. All seniors are excited to hand in their college application, which many of them have worked on for months.

“I suddenly felt a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Today finally made me feels like a seniors and I love it,” said Faiqa Amree, HSTAT seniors.

While some students screamed out “Yay 2010”, others students were asking whether or not they could hand it in on Monday.

Small groups of students gathered in the college office, library and even in the hallway. Some of them were chilling and taking pictures. The rest of them worked on computers trying to get the online supplements done. Other students also sat in groups putting four colorful stamps on their yellowish- orange envelopes.

“This is so much fun,” said some students while they were putting on stamps.

When walking down the hallway, cameras flash everywhere, shinning on every smiley face and compliments flying through the air like cherry blossoms dancing down the ground.                           After 8th period the lunch room is crowed. Students are moving along the crowd looking professional and cool. All of a sudden, the students greet each other with smiles and hugs. They look like young men and women who have accomplished something great and will someday make something of themselves.

It does not feel like a traditional school holiday, instead it feels like graduation. Students are taking pictures and hugging each other even with the people who they don’t normally hangout with or talk to. During those 15 short minutes in the lunch room, it feels like forever. With every camera flash student record some of the most beautiful moments of their young lives. Many of them are trying to keep as many memories as possible in their small memory card before it is too late.

Seniors of 2010 have already gone through the hardest process and that is what really matters to them right now.
