United Girls Indoor Soccer Team.

By David Cruz

United is an indoor soccer team that was made by Rene Trejo for the girls who want to play indoor soccer and want to have fun.

The indoor team was made this year in the middle of September. The soccer team United is in La Liga Mexicana De Futbol (The Mexican League Of Soccer).

The United Girls Indoor soccer team practices and plays at the recreation center on 1st street between 4th and 3rd avenue. For all those girls who are interested in or like to play soccer you should join or at least check it out. You will have fun and meet new people. Practices are at 6pm and games are scheduled at 6 or 7, United usually plays at 7.

The team started with three family members Amy Trejo, Sasha Trejo, and Emily Mateo.

“Well it was a collaboration of us three cousins: me, Sasha, and Amy. We brought girls from the Telecommunications girls soccer team, the New Utrecht girls soccer team,  and family friends we knew to make our team” said the co-captain Emily.

United Indoor Soccer Team has a total of nine players. The girls on the team are Amy, Jessica, Sasha, Zulma, Emily , Aide, Leslie, Katherine, and Crystal.

“Not everyone on the team knew each other at first, but after awhile the girls got to know each other an became friends, that helps the team a lot,” said assistant coach Juan Ramirez.

Out of 9 of the players on the team, only 6 girls start off the game. The starting line up is. Goal keeper (Amy), two defense (Emily, Jessica), one mid-fielder (Aide), and two forwards (Crystal,Sasha).

On every team there’s the best player and the most valuable player both Juan & Emily both agree that Amy is the most valuable player and Katherine is the best player.

“Well, Amy is the most valuable player because she’s the goal keeper and she is the only girl on the team that is trained to be goal keeper without her we wouldn’t have any team, but Katherine is the probably the best player because she has the most strength and she shoots the ball well,” said Emily.
