HSTAT hosts Professional Day By Calvin Au At The High School of Telecommunication Arts and Technology (HSTAT), a traditional event called Professional Day is held for the seniors because they hand in their college applications and are invited to dress formally for the school day. This year, Professional Day was held on Friday, November 20th 2009. Almost all the seniors were dressed formally. Some students came in school with suits and dress shoes while other wore expensive clothing such as tuxedos. Every senior was required to hand in their college applications on Professional Day; they were relieved and happy from all their stress from completing it. Some seniors only had one or two applications, while other had over twenty. “I wore a professional skirt, a buttoned down shirt with Nine West heels, and felt proud that I handed in my ten college applications,” said Stephanie Lugo, a senior in HSTAT. After school, a party was held for the seniors in celebration of completing their college applications. It included cake, soda, music, and pictures. Seniors chatted with their friends about their college applications. “The party was alright, I had a good time,” said Jian Wu, a senior in HSTAT. “It was a good time to spend with my fellow seniors.” After all the stress the seniors had from completing their college applications, the party at the end of the day felt relievable to seniors. Professional day ended the stress of the college applications.
