Senior activities at HSTAT By Natalie Munoz Keeping track of upcoming senior events has always been a little difficult because there is a lot of dates and deadlines to keep track of. The Student Government Organization (SGO) has come up with many ideas for the upcoming year and ways to keep track of it. The High School of Telecommunication Arts and Technology (HSTAT) gives out calendars to the students with the most important dates of events and the sports calendar, but sometimes there’s more that students want to know but they cannot seem to find it. Both SGO Student Representative Meghan Brown and Senior Representative Stacy Aquino confirmed that there will be many senior activities planned for the 2009-2010 year. “We have several Spirit days planned such as Superhero Day that will be on April 30, 2010. We also have Tele day, Twin day, Wacky Tacky day, Professional Day, and Rocktober which are planned out as a series of events during the school year...” confirmed Meghan. These days are planned out specifically for seniors to make the school year more interesting and more fun as it goes along to keep some stress off. Brown also stated that she is working on side projects that also involve the student body like her baby project. It brings awareness to teenage motherhood and the point is to help with bringing in baby bottles, baby diapers or anything of that sort. She wants the seniors to be involved with it as well. “The Student Government is always open to suggestions. Just contact a SGO rep or comment on the SGO Facebook. We’d love to hear new ideas,” said Aquino. The SGO is currently trying to involve the community as well as seniors. They are concerned in making this year a fun year but them also making some changes throughout the community. “We want the seniors to be number one, and we want everyone to feel close to each other. so we can have the best year basically were doing a lot for the community now and later well start big spirit days” Stacy Responded. SGO plans to publish a list of these events pretty soon around the school year around next month when is great and approved and set to go. |
