As ID’s slip away, students must pay

By Michael Mehl

At The High School of Telecommunication Arts and Technology (HSTAT), a new rule was recently established stating that students have to pay to replace lost ID cards. The IDs will cost $3.

“The reasons for charging students are that some students have received over 20 IDs since they joined Telecommunications and also because of budget cuts,” said Mr. Young, Head Dean and Physical Education teacher at HSTAT.

“This rule will benefit this school because it will make the students more responsible,” said Young.

Mr. Weinberg, Principal of HSTAT, said that the budget cuts are a major reason for the charge in ID cards.

“The students will become more careful and responsible about the ID cards if they're responsible for replacing them,” said Weinberg. "After hearing these new rules the kids of HSTAT have become more cautious of losing their ID cards.”

“I for one think that it is unfair for the students that never lose their cards have to pay when they lose it,” said Andrey Soldatov, HSTAT junior.
