Student gov't participates in Breast Cancer Walk

By Maria Justiniano

On October 18, 2009, members of the Student Government Organization (SGO) at The High school of Telecommunication Arts and Technology (HSTAT) participated in the Breast Cancer Walk in Prospect Park .
The Breast Cancer Walk is an event that brings women of all ages together to help support themselves and family and friends who have breast cancer.
Some of the SGO members participated in the walk to help spread awareness to other women in the world. They walked in the park with the group of women to raise awareness and prevention of Breast Cancer.
Lumi Chan is one of the student government members that participated in the walk.
"It has been a tradition for the student government members like last year we have also done the Breast Cancer Walk," Chan stated.

The Breast Cancer Walk helps spread the awareness to help raise money to find a cure for the cancer.

"I wanted to help more people in the community in many different ways so a walk is a good way to reach out to the people of the community." Chan stated.
Every year the SGO members joined the women of our community and others to support the women who have breast cancer or have survived it so those women can be strong.
