The Power Of Breakthrough

     “The purpose of Breakthrough is to develop leadership skills for male students,” said Mr. Carter, English teacher and Faculty Advisor of Breakthrough.

        Breakthrough was first started because academically below-average students of color at HSTAT were in need of help in their classes. Carter decided to work with the members of Breakthrough because he thought he could try to set a good example to these young male students.                           (Read full article)

 

Fall Carnival falls through

         Red Cross’ Halloween Party was canceled because there was not enough time and ideas to plan it, so they planned to have a Fall Carnival instead.

Munnell takes over Amnesty Int'l Club

Real stars behind the scenes: The AV Club

The High School of Telecommunication Arts and Technology has added a new club to its collection; it's called the Audio Visual Club.

     When the auditorium was renovated, the audio visual booth was added in the balcony of the auditorium. With all the new equipment along with experience, Mr. Lipari, a teacher in HSTAT, decided to be the adviser.

     "The Audio Visual Club is about getting together students who are interested in the arts, and to figure out what it takes to put on a show, lighting and sound for theatrical productions," said Mr. Lipari.

Ms. Plant begins new Japanese Club

      This year the High School of Telecommunication Arts and Technology is getting a new language club. The club will be dedicated to study the Japanese language, culture and food.

     “Some students wanted to study Japanese and we thought about running a class and instead decided to do a club first,” said Ms.Plant, English teacher and Japanese Club Advisor.

B'way shows free at HSTAT

          Caroline Reddick, a former musical theater teacher at The High School of Telecommunication Arts and Technology (HSTAT) recently returned to invite students to participate in a new theater program which will give students the opportunity to experience on and off-Broadway shows.
